As the integration of digital practices into human societies continues to rapidly increase, it is imperative that the design of consumer-facing interfaces and user experiences reflect the diverse needs of every user. Reconstructing e-commerce to better imitate what the consumer values when shopping becomes necessity, especially when those values differ from the historically practiced. Those values, according to Rui Tian, COO at Ombori Grid, have changed from the cheapest and most convenient choice to the desire for options, a safe and healthy brick and mortar establishment, and sustainability-minded brands.
Today’s online shopping experience should allow consumers to better accommodate their individual needs with more. A platform to support fully customizable 3D models of clothing articles, accessories, and home goods provides the user with full control of their product’s size, material, colors, and more. By putting the shopper in power of production, mass produced waste becomes obsolete.
Tasks and Skills required to complete this interface project include:
-Create 3D Object(s) prototype to customize
-Create User Interface prototype with customization options for and live changes to 3D Object
-Create Price Calculator prototype
I plan to learn and explore Vectary.com for 3D Object and User Interface creation, and NeoCities as a repository for all things user and audience facing.
The Final Deliverable is expected to be a functioning version of the interface sketch provided, as well as research into existing platforms advancing in e-commerce and the impacts of fast fashion on both the planet and consumer purchasing behaviors.
